Operations from Swains Island began at 08.30 UTC on 7 October. With temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius and very high humidity, building the stations required a great deal of effort from the entire team. This is one of the reasons why the stations took a little longer to set up than hoped.
The DXpedition will not be extended to compensate for the late start, and the team will leave the island sometime in the local morning (UTC afternoon) of 17 October. "The team is fully aware that not everything is going as expected and therefore the expectation cannot be fully met yet", the team posted on 10 October. "Despite the extreme conditions in which to work, the ambition is as high as ever, and the team is doing everything possible to meet expectations". According to Club Log's latest statistics, at 03:48 UTC on 13 October W8S had made 57247 QSOs with 16028 unique callsigns:

The DXpedition to Swains Island made 89,530 QSOs with 21,471 unique Callsigns and an even distribution over the three largest areas (Europe 35.1%, North America 30.8%, Asia 29%).
