Further News on the IOTA DXpedition Fund

IOTA Ltd reported in early September 2023 the creation of a DXpedition Fund to help reduce the costs of expeditions to the rarer and less accessible IOTA groups. Since then the Fund has made a number of applicants very happy. However we want to do more to encourage operations from groups where there has not been a significant operation for at least 15 years. So in addition to making grants to operations from IOTA references confirmed by less than 25% of IOTA members based on the last 10-year listing in IOTA’s Most Wanted List (shown here), we will also do the same for operations to groups confirmed by less than 30% of IOTA members on the same list that have not seen an activation for at least 15 years. It’s estimated that these two categories cover some 250 IOTA groups. The grant request should be submitted more than 30 days prior to the operation’s start. The evaluation and grant process is based on various criteria (shown here) including the rarity of the IOTA reference, the length of the operation and number of operators, importantly the planned number of contacts, bands and modes to be used, and the estimated expedition cost.
