Yaesu FT2D at Dayton Hamfest 2015

Raw video of the recently announced Yaesu FT2D finally in person in the United States. Still had the screen protector out of the box on it. I currently own an FT1D and was curious about several things. How is text input? How does it feel? How is the battery meter? How do you send DTMF without a key pad.

Some things about the radio. It's taller than the FT1D but appears to use the same battery. The grey scale screen looks great in person. The plastic on the screen and white balance on my phone to record the video don't do it justice. It feels very solid in the hand. The volume knob, encoder and buttons all feel very high quality. The Diamond SMA to BNC adaptor I have on my FT1D fit perfectly and look great on the FT2D.

To me this is a winner of a radio. Maybe not as rugged with such a big resistive touch screen display, and certainly not as well priced as the FT1D (for what you get). But still a winner.

Recorded with a Lumia 925 Windows Phone.
